How to Reach Agra By Air
Agra is connected by an Indian Airlines / Alliance Air's flight from Delhi (35 min, four times a week), which continues onward to Khajuraho and Varanasi. Kheria airport at Agra, is located 6 km from downtown Sadar Bazaar.
How to Reach Agra By Rail
Train is the most convenient mode of travel to Agra. The airconditioned Shatabdi Express leaves New Delhi at 0600 hrs everyday, and takes just 2 hours to Agra Cantt. Railway Station. Another convenient option is the Taj Express (leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin Station,New Delhi at 0715 / 0945 hrs). Both trains return to Delhi in the evening, making even a day excursion to Agra possible.
How to Reach Agra By Road
For those planning a road journey, Agra is only 200 km from Delhi. The national highway is a four-lane double carriageway for most of the way and the journey time from Delhi to Agra is around four hours. Good midway facilities are available at Dabchick complex and at Country Inn.
Local Transport in Agra
You can travel to different parts of Agra using different modes of transport like taxi, tempo, auto-rickshaw and cycle rickshaw from the Taj Mahal area. Prepaid taxis and autos from the railway station are available. Prepaid transport is also available for excursions in and around the city limits. Bicycles can be hired on hourly basis from different parts of the city. It is to be remembered that no diesel or petrol vehicle are allowed to ply in the Taj Mahal area. Battery-operated buses, horse-driven tongas, rickshaws and other pollution-free vehicles are allowed to conserve the beauty of this great monument.
Climate of Agra
The climate of Agra is extreme and tropical. Summers in Agra are extremely hot and the maximum temperature can be as high as 45 degree Celsius, while winters are cold and foggy. Heavy rains and high humidity mark the monsoon season.
Agra travel & Taj Mahal travel is feasible throughout the year, but one must avoid the extreme hot summers (April-June) and rainy season (July-Sept). The most suitable time to tour Agra is in winters.
